Want to upgrade your stairs? Don't forget about the safety!

A while ago we got an e-mail from a customer, saying he did not paint his stairs but only put strong white sticky plactic on it and on top off that our non-slip adhesive strip.
They were very happy with the result and this is how we decided this to be the winner of our monthly give-a-way  'Send in your best stair picture after applying our strip!'

I found the idea very creative and we were curious about what else there is to buy online if you look for plastics. I was very surprised to find all these solutions and ways. There are a lot of types of sticky plastics in bright but also plain colors, prints, you  name it, it is there!

You can choose to plaster your stairs with this material. I believe it is something that takes a lot of time and patience, but it is possible. Another possibility is to buy mdf in the construction market, and paste the plastic on the mdf board. Use these boards as risers to upgrade your stairs to a fancy one! Applying the plastic onto a piece of mdf is easier then on the stairs itself.
It must be very difficult to apply this product sharp and neatly onto the treads, but who knows, maybe it is possible. Also I believe, if it is possible, very soon you will see wear and tear.

Within my search for inspiration, I also ended up on Pinterest, finding pictures of people who share pictures of their old now new stairs. There are so  much cool ideas to get inspired by.

A few very cool ones I would like to share with you in this article. Don't forget, when upgrating your stairs, to think about safety. It is not a luxury to apply a non-slip adhesive strip.

POP-ART STAIRS

With this stairs the risers are painted by hand to give it a nice hippie look, like people did in the 70s. Super cool effect which makes your stairs a true eye-catcher.

TILES STAIRS

Want to give your stairs a Spanish look? With some ceramic tiles this is an easy fix! When you glue the tiles onto the risers, use a proper gluekit and keep some space on the edges, to prevent cracky sounds.

To bad they did not use our  non-slip adhesive strip for extra security ;) Also its a very cool idea to make a combination of different kind of tiles together.

WALLPAPER STAIRS

Maybe it would be possible to plaster your treads with wallpaper, but you should really apply some good layers of lacquer, to prevent it from getting damaged. It is a very nice idea to only apply wallpaper on the risers, looks really cool with the wood effect! These days there are so many sorts of wallpaper, it is difficult to choose!

Hopefully I was able to give you some inspiration, I wish you all a lot of luck with getting your dream stairs, just go for it!
